Repository for Germinal Choice closes

1999. The Repository for Germinal Choice, the so-called "Nobel Prize sperm bank," closes its doors after 20 years. This follows the death of Floyd Kimble in 1998, who took over the bank after founder Robert Graham died in February 1997. All sperm samples are destroyed.

Web magazine Slate published a series of articles reporting on the Repository, its history and its outcomes in 2001. The full series is available here.
